Master Class: London based Kinetika Bloco.
Location: London & New Orleans
Year: 2021/2022

Our music collaboration with these amazing young musicians spanned over 2 years. This London based youth ensamble studied our music and then perfomrmed with us at the Iconic London venue Roundhouse. Year later we met again and we provided them with Master Class session at the Jazz Museum in New Orleans. We have plans to reconnect again with them in 2025 London. Check out their video about their trip to New Orleans here.

The opportunity to work with The Hot 8 Brass Band was an amazing experience for our young people. We had the chance to do a workshop and perform with them and throughout the time we were with them, not only did they share lots of musical skills they also imparted some wisdom around staying together as a band, supporting one another, performing at your best. They connected really well with our young people and were so generous with their time and their knowledge. Our young people came away inspired, fired up, and more excited about music. Working with professional musicians who are honest about the good and bad times of the industry really helps our young people to be informed, inspired and prepared to move forward on their own musical journeys

Master Class: youth music education program with Fabriques Orchestrales Juniors
Location: Paris, France Villes des Musiques du Monde
Ages: 11 to 18

“In 2019, Villes des Musiques du Monde, an NGO based in Paris, has organized a project to bring together masters of Second Line funk from New Orleans and young people from Seine-Saint-Denis involved in the Fabrique Orchestral Junior project. The Hot 8 Brass Band played a crucial role in this project: the group has accepted to stop his tour in Europe and agreed to perform a concert exclusively for these hundred young people. They also agreed, in the form of a workshop, to share their art, expertise, and knowledge of the brass band music of New Orleans during a whole day.”
